Marlon Beresford is an English former professional footballer. He played as a goalkeeper, making over 450 appearances in a playing career that spanned 20 years. He is now a goalkeeping coach at Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab, having previously found work as an accountancy tutor and sports commentator after retiring from football.
Beresford enjoyed a long, nomadic career, originally coming through the youth ranks at Sheffield Wednesday before leaving to play for a numer of clubs throughout the English Football League. Notably, he made almost 300 appearances for Burnley FC in three separate spells at the club, and over 100 appearances for Luton Town, his hometown club. His other clubs include Middlesbrough FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bradford City. He retired from professional football in 2007 after a final loan spell at Oldham Athletic.
Since embarking on a coaching career post-retirement, has worked with the IFA overseeing the youth development of the Northern Ireland U21 U19 & U17 teams. He had a coaching role at Barnet FC and Scottish Premier League side Motherwell FC, before leaving for his current role at Al-Shabab. He has also established a very successful accountancy training company in Belfast & Edinburgh and worked as a radio personality, covering former clubs Luton Town and Burnley FC.
