Marte Leinan Lund is a well known Norwegian Nordic combined skier. Lund’s best season to date was her most recent, as she secured a total of four podium spots (two of them being first place podium positions), and won three Continental Cup races. These victories allowed her to score second place overall for the 2020 Continental Cup season, a feat very few athletes have achieved, but many have dreamt of.
Leinan Lund made her international debut on February 9th, 2016, at the Youth Cup. Just a year after her debut, she won her first medal at the 2017 Norwegian Summer Championships in Lillehammer. At this competition, she placed second overall. After her success at the Summer Championships, Leinan Lund had decided to take on an even bigger challenge. In 2018 she participated in the Continental Cup, in which she placed seventh. As all of the best athletes always do, when Leinan Lund returned to compete in the 2019 Continental Cup, she improved her performance and ended up in fifth place overall.
In the summer of 2019, Leinan Lund made her debut at the Grand Prix. Alongside Magnus Krog, Gyda Westvold Hansen and Harald Johnas Riiber, she took second place in the first mixed team competition. A few weeks after her strong performance at the Grand Prix, she was nominated to join Norway’s first female national team. In January of 2020, Leinan Lund won her first Continental Cup race in Rena, in her home country.
