Mary McCormack is an American actress who has starred in a number of thrillers and political dramas. She is best known for her appearance in Deep Impact and her starring role in the US series, In Plain Sight. She has also appeared in a number of well known American soaps such as ER.
McCormack has been acting since 1994, when she made her debut as a small role in an episode of Law and Order. From there, she worked her way up, appearing in Miracle on 34th Street and several other roles before eventually making her breakthrough. She was given a part in the series, Murder One, in which she starred in over forty episodes. She then went on to star in the spin-off series as well.
1998 saw McCormack appear in Deep Impact alongside stars such as Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave and Morgan Freeman. Though her role was relatively small, it opened more doors for her and she then began regularly landing roles in TV shows. She was a recurring character in ER over the space of a few years and she also starred in the political drama, The West Wing.
McCormack served four years as the star of In Plain Sight between 2008 and 2012 and has had regular acting work since. Her latest triumph was her starring role in The Kids Are Alright in 2018, a lighthearted comedy which was popular with critics.
