About

Max Brown was born in 1980 or 1981 in Ilkley, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. He spent the majority of his childhood in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. His interest in acting began early, leading him to perform regularly at the Shrewsbury Music Hall. Brown made his television debut in 2001 at the age of 20, portraying Danny Hartston in the series “Grange Hill.”

Following his initial television appearance, Brown established a career with various roles across different shows. He appeared in “Crossroads,” “Hollyoaks,” “Doctors,” “Casualty,” and “Mistresses.” A significant role came with his portrayal of Edward Seymour in “The Tudors,” where he was part of the main cast from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, he joined the cast of the BBC One drama series “Spooks” as MI5 Piracy and Terrorism Case Officer Dimitri Levendis, remaining with the show until its final season in 2011. He also played Evan Marks in the first eighteen episodes of the first season of The CW’s “Beauty & the Beast” from 2012 to 2013 and again as a guest star in 2016.

Brown’s film credits include “Turistas” (2006), released as “Paradise Lost” in the UK, “Daylight Robbery” (2008), and “Flutter” (2011). In later career stages, he took on the role of King Robert in the last two seasons of “The Royals” from 2016 to 2018. A notable film project was the 2019 “Downton Abbey” movie, where he played Richard Ellis, the King’s Valet. More recently, since 2022, he has been part of the main cast as DI Sam Gillespie in “Sister Boniface Mysteries.” He is married to Annabelle Horsey and has three children.
