Michael Patrick McGill is an actor who is widely recognised for his role as Tommy on Showtime’s critically acclaimed American comedy-drama series Shameless, based on the British original. He’s featured in dozens of episodes across every season of the show to date as a good-spirited regular at local bar The Alibi Room. In the show he’s a frequently encountered acquaintance (and eventual friend) of iconic alcoholic protagonist Frank Gallagher portrayed by William H. Macy. He also played Kenny Anderson in a few episodes of The Office US, acting alongside Pam (Jenna Fischer) as the brother of Roy, Pam’s fiancé in the early portion of the show.
Involved in the military in his youth, he found work in the media industry shortly after a tour in Eastern Europe, hoping to utilise his degree in Radio/TV/Film from the University of Wisconsin. His debut role in television was in a small part in fantasy series Touched by an Angel (1994) as baseball legend Babe Ruth in a flashback.
Based in Los Angeles since 1998, he even joined and performed as a member of The Knightsbridge Theatre Company from 2003 to late 2005 in a variety of well-known roles across Shakespearean classics such as Twelfth Night and more modern productions such as Guys and Dolls. A family man with a love of dogs, Star Wars and The Green Bay Packers, he continues to further his acting career by looking for new projects.
