Michelle Cehn studied Biology at Case Western Reserve University from 2005 to 2009. During her time there, she founded and served as President of the Case Animal Rights & Ethics Society (CARES). Her work in animal advocacy began early, including cataloging dolphin vocalizations for The Dolphin Project from 2006 to 2008 and volunteering for Mercy for Animals in 2008-2009. From 2009 to 2011, she worked at PETA as a Community Fundraising Program Manager, developing strategic marketing plans for various programs and organizing fundraising events. From 2011 to 2014, she continued with the PETA Foundation as Social Media & Community Fundraising Manager, where she managed their online fundraising strategy, including influencer collaborations and Google Grant AdWords accounts for international affiliates. She grew PETA’s ‘PETA Pack’ team-training program to raise over $200,000 during her tenure.
In 2014, Michelle founded World of Vegan, an online platform dedicated to making vegan living accessible and enjoyable. The platform provides recipes, guides, and tools, and has built a significant social media presence with over 1 million Instagram followers. Concurrently, from 2014 to 2015, she served as Content Director for Vegan.com, significantly increasing its monthly page views from 59,000 to 500,000, growing its Facebook followers from 75,000 to 325,000, and establishing a YouTube channel that reached 10,000 subscribers and over 250,000 views. She also expanded the email list from 1,000 to 10,000 subscribers in two months. Her work involved drafting over 200 articles, filming more than 75 videos, and producing hundreds of high-resolution photos and graphics.
Since 2018, Michelle has co-hosted The Plant-Powered People Podcast, sharing insights and experiences on plant-based living. In 2020, she co-authored “The Friendly Vegan Cookbook,” a resource providing practical and delicious plant-based recipes. She continues to produce bite-sized vegan videos for YouTube, contributing to World of Vegan’s channel. Her photography and videography skills are utilized through Michelle Cehn Photography & Videography, where she specializes in food and lifestyle content, supporting non-profit organizations like Farm Sanctuary, Mercy for Animals, and Vegan Outreach. In 2023, she became an advisory council member for LEAP (Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet), an educational program for high school students focused on animal ethics and environmental sustainability.
