Micky Van De Ven

Micky van de Ven is a highly skilled Dutch professional footballer who has made significant strides in his career as a centre-back. His journey began at FC Volendam, where he made an impressive debut against Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie. During the 2019–20 season, he showcased his leadership abilities by assuming the captaincy, scoring twice in 26 appearances, and helping the team reach the promotion play-offs. His performances caught the attention of scouts, leading to a transfer to VfL Wolfsburg in 2021 for £3.15 million.

At Wolfsburg, van de Ven quickly established himself as a key player, participating in nearly every Bundesliga match during the 2022–23 season. He scored his first goal for the club in a notable 2–0 victory over Borussia Dortmund and recorded the highest top speed of any defender in the league, reaching 22.3 mph. His exceptional defensive skills and speed made him a standout player, paving the way for his subsequent move to Tottenham Hotspur.

On 8 August 2023, van de Ven signed a six-year contract with Tottenham for a reported fee of €50 million, matching the club’s record for a centre-back. Van de Ven was recognized for his outstanding contributions by being awarded Tottenham’s Player of the Season in May 2024.

Internationally, van de Ven has represented the Netherlands at various levels, including captaining the under-21 team. In August 2023, he received his first call-up to the senior national team, debuting in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match against France.
