Polish rower Mikołaj Burda is an Olympic medallist, Gold medal World Champion and a three-time gold-medal-winning European Champion.
A professional rower since his teens, Burda successfully took home his first silver medal in 1999 at the Rowing World Cup in Belgium. Since then, Burda has become a renowned rower, competing internationally in both the European and World Championships. After winning his first silver medal as part of the 2007 European Championships in Poland, competing in the men’s eight competition, Burda has gone on to win one bronze, four silver and an impressive three gold medals during 2009, 2011 and 2012. He has also won one silver medal at the European Championships more recently during 2019, competing in the men’s coxless four event. Having also participated in the World Championships, in 2014 Burda won his first bronze medal as part of the competition, competing in the men’s eight event in The Netherlands. He later went on to win his first gold medal during 2019 in the coxless four event, making him a rowing world champion.
A familiar face at the Olympics Games, Burda first participated in the men’s eight event during the 2004 games in Athens. He later competed in the same event at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games, the 2012 London Olympic Games and again at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games at which his team finished in an impressive 5th place. Following a top performance alongside his teammates the 2019 World Championships, Burda has gone on to qualify to represent Poland in the men’s coxless four event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
