Nick Cartell is an American theatre actor and singer. He recently finished a two-and-a-half-year stint as prisoner 24601, alias Jean Valjean, on the National Tour of Les Misérables. He previously appeared in Paramour, Cirque Du Soleil’s first Broadway musical, where he was a standby for and played the three male lead roles. He can also be heard on the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Scandalous the Musical, written by TODAY show host Kathie Lee Gifford and based on the life and trials of Aimee Semple McPherson. Cartell made his Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, understudying the roles of Jesus Christ, Judas Iscariot, and the High Priest Annas, which were all played by the three actors. He has also performed in The Phantom of the Opera in the United States and Canada.
Cartell has performed with the South Coast Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony, and The Broadway Boys, a critically acclaimed group. Bringing it Home, his first solo performance, was performed to a sold-out room at Feinstein’s/54 Below in March 2019. Cartell and his wife Christine are also the founders of Broadway Fights Ovarian Cancer, a non-profit that raises awareness and funds for research into the disease.
Cartell had a brief stint in Japan performing with a certain popular Mouse after graduating from Arizona State University with a BFA in Theatre.
