Nozomu Yoshioka

Nozomu Yoshioka, born on December 15, 2003, in Osaka, Japan, began his figure skating career in 2010. He initially practiced soccer and martial arts before dedicating himself to figure skating. Yoshioka trained at the Aquapia Skating Rink in Kashiwara before relocating to the Kansai University Takatsuki Ice Arena to continue his development. He made his junior-level debut at the 2017–18 Japan Junior Championships, finishing twentieth, and improved to nineteenth in the 2018–19 season. These early experiences laid the groundwork for his competitive journey, shaped by a disciplined approach to training.

His career saw a turning point in the 2019–20 season when he moved to Hyōgo Prefecture to train under Utako Nagamitsu at the Hyogo Nishinomiya FSC. This change in training environment, which he sought for more discipline, coincided with significant progress. He finished fifth at the 2019–20 Japan Junior Championships and nineteenth at the Japan Senior Championships. Following this, he won the 2020 Challenge Cup as a junior, marking his first international win. The 2022–23 season was particularly notable for Yoshioka, as he secured a bronze medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships and another bronze at the 2022–23 Junior Grand Prix Final. He also became the 2022 Japanese junior national champion, demonstrating his growing presence in the sport.

In recent seasons, Yoshioka has continued to compete at a high level. In the 2023–24 season, he participated in the ISU Grand Prix series, achieving a sixth-place finish at Skate America 2023 and an eighth-place finish at the Japan Championships. He concluded that season with a silver medal at the 2024 Tallink Hotels Cup. His progression into senior-level competitions includes multiple appearances at the ISU Grand Prix events, demonstrating his continued commitment to the sport at a global scale. As a university student, he balances his athletic career with his academic pursuits, continuing to represent Hosei University in competitions.
