Nyck de Vries, born Hendrik Johannes Nicasius de Vries on February 6, 1995, is a Dutch racing driver currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing and in Formula E for Mahindra Racing, where he became the 2020–21 World Champion. With a career that includes stints in Formula One from 2022 to 2023, de Vries has established himself as a versatile and skilled competitor across multiple racing disciplines.
De Vries’s motorsport journey began in karting, where he achieved significant success, culminating in back-to-back victories at the direct-drive Karting World Championship in 2010 and 2011. His talent caught the eye of the McLaren Young Driver Programme, which he joined in 2010. De Vries’s first major championship win came in 2014 when he claimed the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 title with Koiranen GP.
