Omar- Just a Construction guy

Omar Madani works as a general contractor in Austin, Texas. His daily work involves various aspects of construction, utilizing his own tools, van, and hard hat. He also enjoys cigars, whisky, and coffee. In 2019, Omar became the central figure of an Instagram marketing campaign by Cuvée Coffee, an Austin-based coffee shop, and Bandolier Media. The campaign aimed to create a different type of influencer, one representing a hard-working, blue-collar individual, which aligned with Cuvée Coffee’s customer base. Omar was compensated for participating in professional photo shoots, which depicted him smoking cigars, drinking coffee, and performing construction work. Cuvée Coffee products were strategically placed in the background of many of these photos.

The Instagram account, @justaconstructionguy, quickly gained traction, accumulating over 450,000 followers within five days of its launch in 2019. The account’s viral success was amplified by a tweet from a user, @barbzlovescarbs, who falsely claimed Omar was their father creating the account to prove he could be an influencer. This narrative contributed to the account’s widespread attention across social media platforms. Despite the fabricated origin story, Omar is a real person and his involvement in the campaign was primarily as the subject of the photographs, with Bandolier Media managing the account’s content and marketing. His persona and engagement resonated with the online audience, showcasing a relatable, everyday working-class figure in the influencer landscape.
