Xavier Di Petta and Nick Iavarone make up Party Shirt, a Tiktoker, and DJ duo. They’re here to debunk all of the internet’s most popular life hacks so you don’t have to. Petta, an Australian native, was no stranger to social media. He launched a YouTube account in 2007, and it grew to become Australia’s 10th most subscribed channel. They started working together on music projects and eventually formed Party Shirt, a DJ duo. However, when the pandemic struck, they turned to TikTok.Petta and Lavarone are best known for their show “Fact or Cap,” in which they put seemingly innocuous life hacks to the test to see if they’re genuine. (A “cap” is a slang term for lying.)
They started after seeing multiple viral experiments on their TikTok “For You” page, according to the duo. They were big fans of the show “MythBusters,” so they decided to do their own version, busting viral life hacks. In total, they’ve put over 1,000 hacks to the test. When the Covid-19 shots were first made available, the men began debunking myths and viral videos on social media that claimed the vaccine would make you magnetic.
Their sophomore release, ‘Missionary,’ got on our radar after their debut single, ‘Flash One,’ was a tremendous success, earning over 150K listens on Spotify alone. Under the stage name Party Shirt, the duo released the first track from their EP Liquid Powder, and their debut single “Dancing Tonight” reached No. 1 on the TikTok pop chart. The song has been featured in over 50,000 TikTok videos and has received over 200 million views since then. Simply said, the song went viral, and we have now entered the Party Shirt era.
