NFL coach Pete Carroll serves as both the head coach and executive vice president of the Seattle Seahawks. From 2000 until 2009, he served as the head football coach at USC, where his team won six bowl games and consecutive national championships in 2003 and 2004.
Beginning his professional head coaching career in 1994 with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, Carroll had only modest success. He made the switch to collegiate football with USC and turned the ailing programme into a top-tier competitor. Carroll’s success in college led to his hiring as Seattle’s head coach in 2010, which led to his return to the NFL. The Seahawks have made two straight Super Bowl trips under Carroll, have qualified for the playoffs nine times, have won the franchise’s first championship in Super Bowl XLVIII, and have captured their division five times. During his tenure, the Legion of Boom defence for the team led the league in scoring for four straight seasons.
Outside of football, Carroll was impacted by the high number of gang-related killings in underprivileged communities after relocating to Los Angeles. He assisted in setting up a brainstorming workshop at USC’s Heritage Hall in April 2003 that included political figures, senior law enforcement officers, and representatives from the social service, educational, and religious sectors. As a result, A Better LA was established, a nonprofit organisation whose mission is to lessen violence in specific Los Angeles urban districts. Carroll debuted CampPete.com in April 2009. The website offers arcade-style games, inspirational quotes from Coach Carroll, a sports trivia section, and a number of online football skill clinics for young players. CampPete.com donates a portion of its earnings to A Better LA.
