The hard-hitting Cypriot Petros Chrysochos is one of Cyprus’ most treasured tennis stars. As part of Cyprus’ Davis Cup Team, he has travelled the world exercising his unique talents. The 24-year-old trained at the Herodotou Tennis Academy before quickly entering the junior circuit. In 2014 he reached the quarter finals and 3rd round of the Australian and French Junior Opens. He went on to win the F15 and F3 in Egypt and Cyprus, respectively, and in 2015 he took the title of the F18 again in Egypt.
At this time, Chrysochos was also a leading player in the NCAA. From 2016-2019 he won the Wake Forest University All-American award, as well as being a member of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship team and winning the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship. During this time, he also continued to gain prominence in worldwide tournaments, winning the F13 in Salem in 2018 and the M25 in the U.S. and M25 in Tunisia in 2019 – the year he turned professional. Going from strength to strength, he went on to win the M25 in Las Vegas and M15 in Egypt in 2020.
Chrysochos has also shown his strengths as a doubles player throughout his successful career, reaching the semi-finals of the Wimbledon juniors, winning various Futures events in 2015 and M25 events in Lebanon and Tunisia in 2019. With a current ITF ranking of No.120 and achieving a combined ranking of 19 in the world ITF Junior circuit, Chrysochos has built an impressive career for himself. Known for his technical ability and versality, he has forged a path to become one of his country’s most celebrated athletes.
