Hugely talented Rachel Butera is widely regarded as one of the best female impressionists currently working. She is also an established voice actor with a wealth of roles in animated series to her credit. She has appeared on America’s Got Talent and won the Howard Stern Impressions Contest. Her voice has been heard on shows on major channels and platforms, including Netflix and the Disney Channel; she has narrated over 30 titles for Audible, and done voiceover work for major ad campaigns by the likes of Toyota.
Butera was born in 1972 and began affectionately mimicking people as a child, ultimately learning to impersonate everyone she met. Her professional voiceover career didn’t begin until she was in her thirties when through a friend, she got a job voicing a character called Beverly Badgcicle in a cartoon called Viva Pinata. Around this time, she began narrating for Audible, but it wasn’t until she entered a radio impressionist competition run by the legendary DJ Howard Stern that she got her big break. The only female competitor, she won the $5000 prize, and within 24 hours, she’d been signed by an agent.
From then on, Butera’s career truly took off with roles in many major shows, from children’s cartoons to the likes of Family Guy. She also became part of Star Wars lore when she voiced General Leia Organa in the Battlefront II video game. She continues to play staggeringly diverse roles, with recent work including various voices in Nick Jr. series Enchantimals and an impersonation of Judy Garland in HBO horror series Lovecraft Country.
