Riley Diary is the hugely popular social media creation of Rhett Dashwood, a young Australian who has been making social media since she was just five years old. Guided by her parents, who also manage her, she has built a huge audience, most notably on Instagram where she has upwards of 150,000 followers. She is also much loved for her YouTube channel (close to 12,000 subscribers), which regularly features videos of her life, comedy content, unboxing stuff, and performing “trick shots”.
Dashwood was born in 2009 and so, standing on the edge of her teens, she has been an internet personality for over half of her young life. She first came to prominence with (and probably is still best known for) a video she appeared when she was six years old. Entitled “The Hug Life Chose Me”, the video is a montage of Dashwood performing a series of seemingly impossible trick shots, such as throwing a DVD over her shoulder and it landing in the player; throwing a carton of milk over her shoulder and it landing in the fridge, and so on. The video has been viewed well over three million times since it was uploaded in 2015.
More recently, Dashwood has moved into modelling and has also gained further exposure doing comedy take-offs of celebrity photoshoots. With her parents carefully guiding her career, Dashwood is sure to begin making the transition into acting or something similar very soon. Either way, she has already endeared herself to millions of hearts.
