Robin Michelle Meade was born on April 21, 1969, in New London, Ohio. She pursued her higher education at Malone University and Ashland University, where she focused on radio/television production, programming, and performance, with a minor in political science, graduating in 1991. Meade’s early career saw her crowned Miss Ohio in 1992 and participating as a semi-finalist in the 1993 Miss America pageant. She began her broadcasting journey as a reporter at WMFD-TV in Mansfield, Ohio, before moving to anchor and reporting roles at WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and WJW-TV in Cleveland. Her career progression included roles as morning news anchor and health reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida, and co-anchoring weekend newscasts and serving as a general assignment correspondent at NBC Chicago affiliate WMAQ-TV, where she covered significant events like the 1996 Olympics and the Centennial Olympic Park bombing.
Meade joined HLN, then CNN Headline News, in 2001, with her first day coinciding with the September 11 attacks. She became the lead news anchor for “Morning Express with Robin Meade” (originally “Robin & Company”), a role she held for nearly 15 years, covering major events such as Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout her distinguished career, Meade has been recognized with various accolades, including a regional Emmy Award in 1995 for her coverage of the Fox River Grove bus–train collision. She received the Ashland University Young Alumnus Award in 2005 and was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame in the same year. In 2010, she was honored with the Gracie Award for Outstanding Anchor. On December 1, 2022, Meade and portions of the HLN Atlanta team were laid off as part of a network restructuring.
