The towering sportsman Rudy Gay is a professional basketball small forward/power forward, who plays for the Utah Jazz of NBA. He also famously shot hoops for the Sacramento Kings, and the San Antonio Spurs, and has represented the United States on the international stage, winning two Gold medals.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Baltimore, Gay, whose father Rudy Gay Sr is the former lead singer of the R&B group Ace Spectrum and the band director for The Stylistics, began playing competitive basketball when he was 12-years-old. By the time he graduated from High School he was considered a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, and was listed as the No. 2 small forward and the No. 5 player in the nation in 2004. He continued to develop his game at the University of Connecticut, being named First-team Parade All-American 2004, Big East All-Rookie Team and Big East Rookie of the Year 2005, and First-team All-Big East 2006.
After graduating he was selected by the Houston Rockets in the 2006 NBA draft, and was then traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, going on to be selected to the 2006–07 All-Rookie First Team. In January 2013 he was traded to the Toronto Raptors, and then in December he was traded again, this time to the Sacramento Kings. After missing the 2016-17 season due to injury, he then signed with the San Antonio Spurs in July 2017, remaining with the club until August 2021. He then signed a contract with Utah Jazz. On the international stage, in 2010 Gay turned out for the United States helping them to win its first FIBA World Championship Gold medal since 1994. He was also a member of the US team who won Gold at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2014.
Gay regularly connects with his millions of followers and fans through Twitter, and Instagram, posting pictures and videos about his life around the basketball court. He is also available for that personalised slam-dunk via the Cameo platform, and has a dedicated YouTube channel, RUDY GAY.
