Sally Hogshead is a New York Times bestselling author, a National Speakers Association Hall of Fame speaker, and the CEO of How to Fascinate (Fascinate, Inc). She graduated from Duke University in 1991. Early in her career, she worked in advertising, starting as a junior copywriter at Fallon Worldwide. She then held positions as a copywriter for Wieden+Kennedy and The Martin Agency. By the age of 24, she was the most awarded advertising copywriter in the U.S. In 1998, after The Martin Agency closed its Los Angeles office, Hogshead co-founded her own agency, Robaire and Hogshead, with Jean Robaire. Their agency worked with clients such as Rémy Martin and Target Corporation.
In 2001, Hogshead was recruited to open and lead a new office for Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Venice, California, serving as both its managing and creative director. Her advertising campaigns for notable brands like MINI Cooper, Nike, Godiva, and Coca-Cola garnered national attention. Her work has been recognized and is part of the Smithsonian Museum of American History permanent collection. In 2012, her contributions to the speaking profession were acknowledged with her induction into the National Speakers Association’s Speaker Hall of Fame.
Since 2006, Hogshead has focused on the science of fascination, developing a communication assessment called The Fascination Advantage® (originally the F-Score). This assessment measures how others perceive an individual’s communication style, distinguishing it from traditional personality tests that focus on self-perception. She has authored several books, including “Radical Careering: 100 Truths to Jumpstart Your Job, Your Career, and Your Life” (2005), “Fascinate: Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation” (2010), and the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller “How the World Sees You: Discover Your Highest Value Through the Science of Fascination” (2014). Her work on fascination has been applied to various organizations including IBM, Twitter, and the YMCA.
