When you describe yourself as “like watching Lebron James try out for Freshman basketball at St Vincent – St Mary, [but] they both had to take bathroom breaks,” you know that you are in for a comedic experience like no other. That’s where Sandy Danto comes in. A dreamer, writer, director, producer and all round entertainer, Danto’s mix of storytelling meets authentic daydream makes for a winning combination. Catching his big break after leaving LA to study at the famed Second City in Detroit, Danto began his career with the iconic National Lampoon. Now featuring on Comedy Central, MADtv and more, Danto has become a firm fan favourite across the globe.
Danto’s web series, Fat Guy Nation, is perhaps one of his most well-known pieces to date. Alongside Phil Haney, the dynamic duo delivered iconic spoofs of the US’s “Big Gulp Culture” and the country’s ever-increasing waistlines as a result. Danto has graced stages across the nation as a stand-up and has collaborated with some of the industry’s best-known names, such as 90s icon Pauly Shore. From comedian to screen, Danto has featured in numerous productions, including The Coop, The Bellman, Tar, Funny Fat Guy, and more.
Alongside his day job, Danto has created the absolute gem of a podcast, The MFers. There Danto explores real-life Dad stories told from a whole host of comedic guests such as Baron Von Blaq, Paul Danke, Nikki Bon, Vargus Mason and more. A natural-born storyteller, Danto’s winning formula will be entertaining audiences for years to come.
