Lord of the Rings actress Sarah McLeod is known for her roles as a hobbit in the hugely popular film franchise, and in soap opera Shortland Street.
McLeod had starred in a few films prior to being cast in Lord of the Rings, most notably Forgotten Silver where she met the casting director for the epic trilogy. She auditioned for the part of Rosie Cotton, a hobbit who later marries main character Samwise Gamgee and starts a family in The Shire. The baby who stars in the final instalment of the film series is in fact McLeod’s child, whom she had just before filming for the movie began. The film franchise has gone on to be one of the most successful of all time, breaking box office records and gaining a huge fanbase across the world. America’s Next Top Model even featured an episode based around a Hobbit themed photoshoot, with McLeod appearing in the episode to guide the models and star as a guest judge. She has also had other roles in television and films, notably in New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street where she starred as recurring character Cindy Watson. McLeod also starred in 2007 film We’re Here to Help and 2010 movie Hugh and Heke.
This New Zealand native is now one of the breakout stars of one of the biggest movie series of all time and continues to be cast in roles for television and in films.
