Sarah Outen

Sarah Outen, a British adventurer and author, has completed challenging expeditions across oceans and continents, inspiring others through her journeys and becoming an advocate for outdoor exploration. After becoming the first woman and youngest person to complete a solo rowing crossing of the Indian Ocean in 2009, Sarah Outen went on to establish herself as a leading British adventurer and author. Her record-breaking 124-day, 14-hour, and 9-minute journey from Australia to Mauritius earned her three Guinness World Records and resulted in her election as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. This initial expedition also successfully raised over £30,000 for Arthritis Care and Arthritis Research Campaign, underscoring her commitment to charitable causes.

Her contributions were recognized in the 2011 Birthday Honours when she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to rowing, conservation, and charity. Further cementing her status as an influential figure, Outen was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Leicester in 2016.
