Satine Phoenix started her career as a comic book illustrator, cosplayer, and model. She co-created the graphic novel “New Praetorians” with writer R.K. Syrus. In 2006, she entered the pornographic film industry, where she was open about her interest in sadomasochism and bondage, and was recognized for her comic art at the Bondage Awards in 2010. Phoenix then transitioned into mainstream media, taking on projects in gaming and fetish fashion, including cosplaying D&D characters and modeling in latex and leather. She appeared in the WE tv series “Secret Lives of Women” and on Fox’s “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet” in 2008. In 2010, she revitalized her artistic and gaming pursuits at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, California, establishing DrawMelt, a life drawing class featuring cosplay models, and DnDMelt, a gaming community dedicated to Dungeons & Dragons. She also created CelebrityChariD20 (formerly CelebrityCharityDnD), a charity event where celebrities play D&D to raise funds for Reach Out and Read, a childhood literacy foundation.
Phoenix’s involvement with Dungeons & Dragons deepened significantly over the years. She starred in her first Dungeons & Dragons web series in 2008 and was featured in IMDB titles such as “Leveling Up (with Satine Phoenix)” and “Satine Phoenix and Ruty Rutenberg on Maze Arcana”. She appeared in seasons three and four of the web series “TableTop” with Wil Wheaton and hosted the second season of “Game Master Tips” for Dungeon Masters in 2017. From 2018 to 2019, Phoenix served as the community manager for Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons arm. Alongside Ruty Rutenberg, she co-founded the streaming network Maze Arcana, producing official Dungeons & Dragons web series like “Fury’s Reach,” “Fury’s Fate,” “Sirens of the Realms,” and “Inkwell Society.” The network received recognition when the 2018 Diana Jones Award for the “Actual Play” movement included Maze Arcana as an exceptional example of the genre, with Phoenix accepting the award at Gen Con.
In 2019, Phoenix founded Gilding Light, a livestream production company. In 2021, her campaign setting book, “Sirens: Battle of the Bards,” successfully funded on Kickstarter through Apotheosis Studios. Additionally, she started professional Dungeon Mastering via Zoom on her Patreon and through DnDinaCastle.com, and creates D&D campaign books, settings, and gaming accessories with her husband, Jamison Stone. She nurtures the global gaming community through her “Satine’s Quest: Luxury Travel Gaming Adventure” events and workshops. Phoenix is a Silver Winner of the 2020 ENNIE Awards for Best Electronic Book as a contributing author to “Uncaged Vol III”.
