Simon Geschke

Simon Geschke is a German former professional road cyclist known for his climbing abilities and strong domestique work, with a notable stage win at the Tour de France. After securing a stage win at the 2011 Critérium International, Simon Geschke went on to establish himself as a formidable presence in professional road cycling. Geschke began his 16-year career in 2009, quickly developing into a strong climber and reliable team player. Early in his tenure, he achieved a notable 4th place in the General Classification at the 2010 Bayern Rundfahrt and secured 2nd place at the 2012 Volta Limburg Classic.

He rode for prominent teams including Skil-Shimano, which evolved into Team Giant-Alpecin and later Team Sunweb, consistently demonstrating his capabilities in the peloton. Geschke’s career saw a significant milestone in 2014 with his victory at the Grand Prix of Aargau Canton. The same year, he earned 2nd place in a stage of the Giro d’Italia and 2nd in a stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. His most prestigious achievement came in 2015 with a celebrated stage win at the Tour de France, showcasing his prowess as a breakaway rider.

This period also included a 3rd place finish in a stage of the Giro d’Italia, solidifying his reputation for consistent performance in Grand Tours. Beyond individual results, Geschke was instrumental in team successes, notably supporting Marcel Kittel’s Tour de France stage victories and Tom Dumoulin’s Giro d’Italia win. Continuing his impressive trajectory, Geschke later joined CCC Team and Cofidis. In 2019, he further distinguished himself by winning the Mountains Classification at the Tour de Pologne.
