One of the most loved broadcasters in the UK, Simon Mayo has a long and successful career that dates back almost thirty years. Since 1981, Simon has worked for the BBC and currently presents the flagship Drivetime show on BBC Radio 2, which amongst other things features the Radio 2 Book Club. Simon also co-hosts Kermode and Mayo, a Film Review segment on BBC Radio 5 Live.
In his long and storied career, Mayo has fronted many popular shows including The Radio One Breakfast Show, The Album Chart Show, The Saturday Evening Show, Act Your Age – a panel show on Radio 4 – and many others. As well as radio work Simon is a regular on TV on shows like National Lottery Winning Lines, The Big Dig back in 2005 and Confessions on BBC1. In recognition of his long running efforts and contribution to broadcasting Simon was recognised as the ‘Radio Broadcaster of the Year’ at the 34th Annual broadcasting Press Guild Award in 2008, and in the same year picked up the ‘Speech Broadcaster of the Year’ at the Sony Radio Academy Awards. Simon has written many books including the likes of Confessions, which was inspired by his popular drive time radio show, and has also penned Itch, a series of children’s novels, but also Blame, a suspense thriller series for young adults. As a great public speaker and fascinating media character, Simon is available for a wide range of Q&As, corporate, public and charity events and has a wide range of expertise and subject matters to talk about.
