The great sportsman Simone Consonni is a professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Cofidis. He is known for setting a new world record when he won Gold at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics in theTeam Pursuit. He also won Gold at the 2021 World Championships in Team Pursuit.
Born and raised in Italy, Consonni started riding at a young age and competed at amateur level, going on to claim 3rd place in the Road race and the Time trial during the 2011 National Junior Championships. He continued to impress racing for Team Colpack, claiming a number of podium victories, including winning the National U-23 Championships Road race. In 2017 he turned professional when he joined UAE Abu Dhabi, and in 2020 he joined Team Cofidis.
Consonni is equally impressive representing his native Italy on the international stage. Since 2015 he has claimed five Silver medals at the European Championships, a Silver at the World Championships, as well as eight medals at the World Championships, including Gold in the Team pursuit in 2021. He also won Gold at the Team pursuit at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
