Great British Bake Off champion Sophie Faldo is a chef and entrepreneur. After claiming victory in the 2017 series, Faldo has gone on to hold other jobs within the food sector, including presenting, professional baking, and recipe writing. As a result of her victory on “The Great British Bake Off,” Faldo was invited to co-present an edition of the television series “Travels with a Goat.” In the episode, she and the Spanish food YouTuber Abraham Bandera Baez took viewers on an adventure through southern Kenya.
Faldo spent her childhood in Suffolk, but these days she makes her home in Surrey with her partner David and their cat Loki. Following her graduation from the University of Toulouse with a Master’s Degree in Psychology, she moved on to pursue a career in the military, eventually becoming an Officer in the Royal Artillery. Faldo was finally able to have her own kitchen after she finished her time in the Army. She first realised she had a natural knack for baking when she volunteered to prepare a friend’s birthday cake. More recently, she developed a passion for patisserie as a result of this discovery. Her hobbies outside of the kitchen include track cycling, rowing, and instructing military boot camps. She is also in the process of pursuing a career as a stuntwoman.
Faldo has launched her very own food company, which she has branded Sophie Faldo Couture Cakes. The company specialises in high-end baked foods and wedding cakes. To put the cherry on top, she was even on the shortlist for the Women of the Future award in 2018.
