One of the world’s best rock climbers, Stefano Ghisolfi is an Italian athlete who has seen success across the lead, bouldering, and speed climbing disciplines. In addition to his successful professional career, he is one of only five climbers to redpoint a 9b+ (5.15c) route.
Originally from Torino, Italy, Ghisolfi made his debut in the IFSC European Youth Cup in 2007. He then earned bronze medals in lead climbing in the IFSC World Youth Championships in 2010 and 2011. Ghisolfi won his first medal in senior level competition in 2012, taking home bronze in the IFSC World Cup stage in Xining, China. He has since been a regular competitor in the World Championships and World Cups, obtaining gold medals in 2014, 2016, and 2017. In 2018, he earned gold in World Cup events in Chamonix, France and Kranj, Slovenia.
While Ghisolfi is a versatile competition climber who sees his best results in Lead climbing, he also is known for his outdoor climbing skills. He has climbed multiple 5.15a and 5.15b routes including La Capella in Spain, an accomplishment that led to a partnership with The North Face. In 2018, he became one of just four climbers to complete a 9b+ route along with Jakob Schubert, Alex Magos, Adam Ondra, and Chris Sharma. Ghisolfi competed for Team Europe on American Ninja Warrior and works as a member of the Italian Police Team to support his climbing career.
