Stella Maeve is an American actress currently best known for her starring and recurring roles in series such as The Magicians, Chicago P.D, and Golden Boy. She has also appeared in many films, including The Runaways, a biopic of the seminal female rock’n’roll group where she played founding drummer Sandy West). She also won the 2012 Robert Altman award as part of the cast of Starlet, an independent drama film. Among her most recent roles is portraying Linda Kasabian, part of the notorious Manson murder family in The Manson Girls.
Born in 1989, Maeve made her first film and television appearances when she was 16, appearing in the likes of Law & Order and various short films. Other appearances in the likes of Gossip Girls, House, Grey’s Anatomy, and others followed. Among her early film successes was a role in the comedy Transamerica, a film that won numerous awards at festivals around the world. Her first recurring role came in 2013 when she was cast as Agnes Clark in Golden Boy, a CBS crime drama that ran for one season. That was swiftly followed by the role of former escort girl and drug addict Nadia Decotis in the first two seasons of Chicago P.D., a series that is still running today.
Maeve’s most prominent role to date, however, has been the starring role of Julia Wicker in The Magicians, a fantasy series than ran for five seasons on the Syfy Network between 2015 and 2020. The show was nominated for Best Fantasy Television Series at the Saturn Awards four times and helped Maeve to build a huge fanbase that includes over a quarter of a million followers on Instagram.
