Summer Ross

Summer Ross, a prominent American beach volleyball player, has left an indelible mark on the sport, showcasing exceptional talent and earning accolades throughout her illustrious career. Born in 1992, Ross quickly ascended the ranks, becoming the FIVB 2010 Youth Under-19 and Junior Under-21 world champion—an unprecedented feat that set her apart as the only player to achieve both titles in the same year. Her stellar performance in 2010 earned her the prestigious title of USA Volleyball Beach Female Athlete of the Year.

Throughout her career, Ross has consistently demonstrated her prowess on the sand. In the 2016 AVP season, she teamed up with partner Lane Carico to secure victory at the Seattle Open and achieve notable placements in other events, culminating in a #23 ranking by the end of the year.

Undeterred by change, Ross entered the 2017 AVP season with new partner Brooke Sweat, capturing victory at the Seattle Open and consistently placing as runners-up in various high-stakes competitions, showcasing her versatility and adaptability.

In 2018, Ross forged a formidable partnership with Sara Hughes. The duo achieved immediate success, claiming a World Tour title at the Moscow Open and securing their first FIVB gold medal, catapulting them into the top ten of the world rankings. Their dominance extended to the 2018 AVP Hermosa Beach Open, further solidifying their status as a powerhouse pairing.

Ross’s remarkable contributions to beach volleyball were once again recognized at the end of 2018, as she was honored with the USAV’s Female Beach Athlete of the Year title—an impressive accolade, eight years after her initial recognition.
