Taylor Spivey is one of the world’s top-ranked female triathletes. Throughout her career, Spivey has earned the title of champion a countless number of times. Spivey’s lifespan of success has ended up saving her multiple podium spots on the ITU World Triathlon Series in recent years.
Born and raised in Redondo Beach, California, Spivey spent her early years concentrating on surf-lifesaving. Her dedication to competitive life-saving led her to win the title of overall national champion at both the 2011 and 2012 Ocean Lifeguard Nationals. Her strong performance at the Ocean Lifeguard Nationals earned her a spot on the USA Lifesaving International team from 2009-2014. At this point, Spivey’s career had only just begun. Spivey would go on to become a swimmer for California Polytechnic University, and continue her chain of national success. During her last year of college, Spivey began competing in triathlons and quickly fell in love with the sport. While representing Cal Poly, Spivey earned the women’s overall draft-legal during the 2014 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships. This victory gave her the attention she needed to be recruited and compete at the elite level through the USA Triathlon Collegiate Recruitment Program. While in this program, she secured a spot on her first elite international podium in 2015.
Starting in 2015, Spivey began a streak of success collecting medals. In 2017, she achieved what she claimed to be the proudest moment in her career: standing on an ITU World Triathlon Series podium in Leeds, England. On March 8th, 2019, Spivey earned yet another ITU World Triathlon Series medal with a silver in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Spivey is currently working towards her goal of qualifying for the next Olympic games.
