Two-time World Battle Rap champion Peter Morris, better known as The Saurus, is a battle rapper and rap artist from Monterey, California. In 2005, Saurus reached the final four of Scribble Jam before losing to eventual champion Justice of Australia. The battle, regarded as one of the most important in Scribble’s rich history, took place at the same time as the development of YouTube and the internet-based era of duelling, which The Saurus would help to define. The next year, Saurus returned to Scribble and became the first Californian to win in the festival’s 11-year existence.
The reputation Saurus had gained from his YouTube footage had an indelible influence on battlers at Scribble Jam in 2008. He and Illmaculate won the World Rap Championship for a second time, while Saurus swept the Scribble competition, becoming only the competition’s second two-time winner, joining ADeeM. Saurus became one of the most unbeatable rappers on the circuit after joining the GrindTime league; he was regarded a top tier battler and paved the way for up-and-comers like Dizaster. Most GrindTime rappers began to go on to other leagues, such as King of the Dot.
In a 2010 bout against Hollohan, despite the fact that it was not a title match, Hollohan bet his title status. Saurus benefited from this, winning the bout and becoming the first American to hold the KOTD chain. Saurus has since gone on to battle all around the world, living up to his reputation as a battle rap legend. He now owns the clothing line “Legendary Clothing” and released the album All I Know Is That in 2011. He keeps up with his fans on Instagram @thesauruswins, where he boasts more than 12,000 followers.
