Former professional wrestler turned producer TJ Wilson was an athlete with the WWE for many years before a spinal cord injury forced him to retire.
Wilson started out his training at the legendary Stu Hart’s Dungeon, going on to train with Tokyo Joe and wrestling in his first professional fight when he was just 15. He predominantly played with the Stampede Wrestling promotion throughout his early career, playing in the WWF and playing in the Stampede Wrestling International Tag Team Championship. He went on to win numerous titles, including the Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship and the Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship. Wilson also toured around Japan as part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Best of the Super Juniors. Tours in Europe quickly followed, with Wilson joining All Star Wrestling and AWA Superstars of Wrestling. In 2006, he got his big break and joined World Wrestling Entertainment, training with the promotion at their developmental facilities for two years and winning the FCW Southern Heavyweight Championship. Wilson joined The Hart Dynasty in 2009, before brief spells with NXT and several championship appearances.
In 2015, Wilson suffered a career ending injury in a match when he damaged his spinal cord. Since recovering from the injury he has worked as a producer for WWE, and is now one of the most iconic wrestlers among the promotion’s alumni.
