Neal Antone Dyer – better known as Tony T. – is a rapper, DJ and singer most famous as the front man of German dance projects R.I.O and Beat System. R.I.O’s best known track ‘Turn This Club Around’ was massively popular across Europe and hit the number one spot on the Swiss Schweizer Hitparade chart, reached the Top 3 of the German Singles Chart and was certified gold in several European countries.
Born in London, England to Jamaican parents, he moved to Brooklyn, New York in the early days of his career before moving to German to work as a resident DJ at nightclub Gaslight in 1985. A year later he began to work on various projects under the moniker Beat System including the limited release ‘Noise Dance’ and in the early 90’s dropped the singles ‘Dance Romance’ and ‘Dance Romance Chapter Two’.
Tony T. continued to lend his voice to different recordings, including the Micha Moors Club track ‘Space’ and began to rise to prominence further as a DJ. In 2008 he founded German dance project R.I.O with Manuel Reuter and Yann Pfeifer, and the band went on to have a string of hits across Europe including ‘Hot Girl’, ‘Shine On’ and ‘Like I Love You’. The band’s biggest hit, ‘Turn This Club Around’ was an international success charting in most of Europe, Canada and the UK.
After four years as front man of R.I.O Tony T. left the project in 2012 to pursue a solo career. He has since collaborated with several leading artists, including on the hit ‘Want U Now’ with Ardian Bujupi.
