Bolivian Valeria Hinojosa is a banker turned activist, “slow-living” herbalist, and eco-conscious content creator. Currently living in a small town in Mexico, she encourages people to live a kind and responsible lifestyle through her blog, Water Thru Skin, which currently has more than 210,000 followers across Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. She and her husband also launched the Casa Earth platform and podcast in 2020, aiming to share their thoughts on nature without the censorship or limitations of social media.
Hinojosa was born in Bolivia but lived in Miami for 15 years and spent five years working in private banking. She worked relentlessly, putting in as many hours as she could physically manage, and chasing promotion after promotion. Yet every achievement would only fleetingly satisfy her, and she would immediately be looking for the next reward, running ever faster around the hamster wheel…
…Until she’d had enough. In her late 20s, Hinojosa, quit the fast-pace of the corporate city life to pursue things that challenged and nourished her. She slowed down, got into yoga teaching, began to live mindfully and consciously. This led her to set up Water Thru Skin, a blog that inspires people to take the same bold, self-loving steps as she has. As her ever-growing audience testifies, when you follow your heart, you will find your calling.
