Vincent Kriechmayr is an accomplished Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer, specializing in the speed events of super-G and downhill. He made his World Cup debut in December 2010 at the young age of nineteen, quickly establishing himself as a formidable competitor. His first significant achievement came in March 2015 when he secured a runner-up finish in super-G at Kvitfjell, Norway, marking his first podium appearance. This was followed by his first World Cup victory in December 2017 at Beaver Creek, Colorado, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
Kriechmayr’s career reached new heights at the 2021 World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where he made history by winning gold medals in both super-G and downhill. This remarkable feat made him only the third male skier to achieve the speed double at the World Championships, joining the ranks of legends Hermann Maier and Bode Miller. His exceptional performance earned him the super-G season title in 2021, finishing 83 points ahead of the runner-up, Marco Odermatt.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Kriechmayr was named Austrian Sportsman of the Year in October 2021. His dedication to the sport is evident in his relentless pursuit of excellence, as he continues to push the boundaries of alpine skiing. With a winning spirit and a commitment to his craft, he remains a prominent figure in the skiing community.
Beyond his competitive accolades, Kriechmayr is known for his grounded personality and strong family ties. He often returns to his family farm in Leinz, where he enjoys a quieter life away from the slopes. His passion for skiing, combined with his humble nature, makes him a beloved athlete in Austria and an inspiration to aspiring skiers worldwide.
