Yanic Truesdale

Yanic Truesdale was born on March 17, 1970, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He began his acting career at 17, enrolling in the National Theatre School of Canada, from which he graduated at 19. His early career in Canada included a starring role in the popular hockey series “He Shoots, He Scores.” He spent six years on the series “The Duval Family” and earned his first Gemini Award nomination in 1998 for Best Acting – Comedy Series or Special for his performance in the sitcom “Majeurs et Vaccinés.” He received a second Gemini nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his role in “Mauvais Karma.” Seeking further opportunities, Truesdale moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Truesdale’s first audition led to his iconic role as Michel Gerard, the opinionated concierge on the critically acclaimed series “Gilmore Girls.” He appeared in 158 episodes of the show from 2000 to 2007. This role brought him significant recognition, including a spot on Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch list alongside notable talents like Ryan Gosling and Jennifer Garner. Truesdale reprised his role as Michel for the Netflix revival, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” in 2016, reconnecting with devoted fans.

Truesdale’s career has continued with various film and television projects. In 2022, he featured in the Netflix comedy series “God’s Favorite Idiot” opposite Melissa McCarthy. His work also includes the film “My Salinger Year” (2020), which opened the Berlin Film Festival, and a recurring role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (2017) on HBO, where he played Lin-Manuel Miranda’s agent. He has also starred in the Lifetime murder mystery franchise “Fallen Angels Murder Club” and is in production for season three of the Canadian series “Les Mecs.” In 2025, he rejoined “Gilmore Girls” creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for the Amazon Prime series “Étoile,” playing Raphaël Marchand.
