Mel Gibson and Esther Acebo appeared at Riyadh’s 2023 Joy Awards this week. The Joy Awards ceremony, held at Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, celebrates the best in Arabic music, film, television, sports and other media. Organised by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, in partnership with the MBC group, this year’s event was the third of its kind. Mel Gibson was one of the biggest names to appear at the ceremony, as the actor and director accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award and presented the award for the Best Film category. Spanish actress Esther Acebo, best known for starring in the hit Netflix drama Money Heist, accepted an award for her portrayal of Mónica Gaztambide. Also attending the ceremony were Sofia Vergara, Michael Bay and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
