News | MN2S | Scratch perverts: Pioneer Showcase

On August 20th Scratch Perverts visited the DJsounds.com studio to perform an exclusive 50 minute set for Pioneer.

Market leading DJ electronics brand Pioneer own the exclusive streaming website DJsounds.com and regularly invite world leading DJs to perform in their unique setup. Not only are the full sets available to stream but the cameras hover over the equipment giving viewers an insight into how the sets are constructed and performed.

Scratch Perverts chose to recreate their set from Meltdown Festival which this year was curated by former Mo’ Wax owner James Lavelle, best known as part of pioneering electronic act UNKLE.

This particular stream is special for a number of reasons, but mostly because of the hands on style Scratch Perverts are famous for. Throughout the 50 minute runtime the viewer will experience ad lib synth work amongst plenty of cutting and scratching.

Of course the equipment they use isn’t your standard studio set up. Both Tony Vegas and Prime Cuts use the vintage DJM-909 scratch mixers complete with built in synths, which they helped to design. From there the setups differ slightly with Tony putting two CDJ-2000nxs players to good use and Prime Cuts going with the newly designed PLX-1000 turntables.
