Dres partners with Men's Health Network for award-winning campaign | MN2S

Dres, best known as one half of the iconic hip-hop duo Black Sheep, was teamed up with Men’s Health Network by MN2S for a campaign focused on addressing vaccine hesitancy.

Dres Vargas-Titus of hip-hop duo Black Sheep has been partnered with Men’s Health Network for a campaign aimed at empowering men through health education and preventative care. The initiative is centred around Black Sheep’s iconic 1991 release The Choice Is Yours, using the song as a means of amplifying its message that men can (and should) make informed choices to take control of their health and wellbeing, addressing hesitancy surrounding Covid-19 vaccines in communities of colour.

The campaign features Dres’ image and likeness in brochures and social media content, while the song has been licensed for paid digital and social media campaigns. A video starring Dres has been distributed on social media and MHN’s website to engage audiences with the initiative, and he will also make an appearance at an event in one of the charity’s target cities to share their message of health empowerment and informed decision-making.

The Men’s Health Network campaign was recently recognised for “delivering critical health information through a culturally authentic lens” at the 2024 MarCom Awards, earning two Gold awards in both Strategic Communications and Web Video categories. “We recognized that reaching vaccine-hesitant communities, particularly men of color, required more than just traditional health messaging,” said Ron Henry, Executive Director at Men’s Health Network. “By partnering with Black Sheep’s Andres ‘Dres’ Vargas-Titus and connecting through the power of hip-hop culture, we were able to engage our audience with a message of empowerment and informed choice.”

Founded in 1995, Men’s Health Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of men and boys through education, advocacy, and preventive care. This collaboration is an example of Men’s Health Network’s admirable commitment to creating impactful health campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences.
