Royal Caribbean are offering a once-in-a-lifetime job to one lucky cruise passenger.
James McVey, of pop-rock band The Vamps and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, has been enlisted by cruise-ship giants Royal Caribbean to act as a judge for their latest promotional competition. One fortunate passenger, selected by a panel of experts including McVey, will be given the role of Shore Explorer, offered the task of sailing around the world on a brand new ship of the same name, seeking out extraordinary shore experiences and documenting the entire trip on social media.
We’re looking for an adrenaline junkie who is not only hungry for adventure, but also has a unique ability to capture a moment and tell a story in a simple social media post.

The winning candidate will receive a generous salary, travelling the world on Royal Caribbean’s luxurious cruise liners and exploring destinations as far-flung as Japan, Norway and Alaska. Speaking about the competition, James McVey said “I’m so excited to be working with Royal Caribbean to find the perfect person for this new apprentice-ship; someone who has a passion for travel, exploration and seeking out new and extraordinary experiences around the world.”
My jungle experience taught me that you really can’t beat the thrill of exploring new destinations and experiences – whether on land or sea – and that’s what becoming a Shore Explorer is all about.
