Clubbing in Dublin: Dublin Nightlife Guide | Features | MN2S

We take a closer look at Dublin nightlife, and help you get to know the best clubs in Ireland’s capital a little better.

Those who have never been to Dublin probably hold an image in their mind of Dublin nightlife, and it might not be all that accurate. Though pints of Guinness can be involved, there’s far more to the Dublin nightlife scene than sitting around in old pubs with traditional Irish music playing. (Though, hey, there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s what you’re feeling.)

Dublin’s clubbing scene is fast becoming one of Europe’s hottest, and the following clubs, events and venues are the main reason why.

Copper Face Jack’s

The club at Copper Face Jack’s is one of Dublin’s most popular night time hotspots. The state of the art sound system comes with a 22ft LED video wall, which means striking visuals can accompany your off-the-wall dance moves.

Button Factory Dublin

Formerly known as the Temple Bar Music Centre, Button Factory has been completely refurbished with a slicker, more relaxed vibe. The 1,000 capacity venue is known for its stellar genre-themed nights, focusing on the likes of indie rock, salsa, and house/techno.

The Wright Venue

Split across three intricately designed floors, The Wright Venue truly has something for everyone. The exclusive VIP Penthouse on the third floor boasts luxurious service and the best in funky house. The modern-yet-retro Purple Room on the second floor gives clubbers a blast from the past. And the main ground floor boasts a soundsystem that has served everyone from Duke Dumont to Rihanna.

Dtwo

Also a sports bar and beer garden, this multi-purpose venue also boasts a popular nightclub with up to three DJs at any one time. The DJs proudly take requests of all kinds, and play anything from the oldest of old school to brand new releases.

Opium Dublin

As one of Dublin’s most esteemed cocktail bars and pan-Asian restaurants, Opium’s food and drinks are renowned throughout the city. The venue’s 700-capacity nightclub lives up to the high standards of its cocktails. The club has multiple LED screens, two bars, and some of the best international DJ talent.

The Cobblestone

Self-described as “a drinking pub with a music problem,” The Cobblestone is the only traditional Irish pub you need to visit. Run by a family with a passion for music, the Cobblestone only attracts the best performers, and the best crowds. Perfect for something different, or for a pre-club warmup.

The Workman’s Club

The Workman’s Club mixes traditional pub decor with a nightclub attitude. Spread out across several floors and spaces, you will variously find a pub, trendy bars, private rooms and a room modeled on “your Nana’s living room.”

Four Dame Lane

Another of Dublin’s most popular venues, Four Dame Lane is split over two floors. Downstairs is the authentic, chilled bar which boasts a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Upstairs is The Loft, which serves as one of Dublin’s best private event venues. With 250-capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, The Loft is ideal if you’re opting for private hire.

When to go to Dublin

With most of these clubs open seven days a week for the vast majority of the year, there’s never a bad time to visit Ireland’s capital. There is, however, one annual event which really brings out the best in the city.

Dublin Pride

Taking place over a week-long period at the end of June each year, Dublin Pride is one of the most high-energy and passionate LGBTQ celebrations in the world. Gay pride in Dublin has had a particularly celebratory atmosphere ever since the Irish public voted overwhelmingly to legalise gay marriage in 2015. With a Pride Parade that has been going since 1983, Dublin Pride attracts tens of thousands of people every year, all coming together to celebrate the community, and stand together against oppression.
