Beatport have released an infographic to celebrate their tenth anniversary charting the rise and fall of genre popularity since the site was founded.
Over the last ten years there have been some tectonic shifts within the dance music industry, with different genres gaining and losing traction over time. One of the most obvious shifts is the sharp arc of dubstep. The genre rose to prominence with alarming speed before bottoming out a few years later to make way for EDM. This and many other more subtle fluctuations are all possible to view on the graph.
