This week sees the launch of YouTube For Artists – a new platform from the Google-owned company aimed at helping support musicians.
The crux of this new drive is the upcoming arrival of a deeper set of analytics tools which will offer artists greater insight into who is watching their videos and when. YouTube say this data will help artists plan tours and coordinate marketing efforts more efficiently.
YouTube For Artists is also aiming to help educate artists on how to earn revenue from their music on the platform, with tips on the platform homepage on how to do so. It also gives information on how their Content ID system can be used to accrue earnings whenever other users use an artist’s music in their uploads.
They are also launching a new cards tool to replace the current annotations system – enabling artists to add links, images and information to their videos to drive people to buy their tickets, merchandise and so on.
