50 years of Kool & The Gang

Funk, soul and disco legends Kool & The Gang have been busy with a flurry of activity to mark their incredible 50th anniversary in the music business.

Last week they were given the Legend Award at the Soul Train Awards 2014, while Thursday 20 November sees them give the closing performance at the Billboard Touring Conference & Awards in New York. A commemorative issue of Billboard magazine dedicated to the group will be released on November 22.

Friday 21 November sees them perform on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, playing alongside house band The Roots for the entire show, and on Saturday 22 November they play The Clinton Foundation’s ‘Celebrate 10: A Community Concert’ in Little Rock, AR.

The band have released a festival album entitled ‘Kool For The Holidays’, and in 2015 they will be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
