Last Thurday night, MistaJam premiered MN2S artist Kelli-Leigh’s debut single ‘Ain’t Got Nobody’ in the #InboxFresh segment of his 1Xtra show. In the preceding interview, Kelli-Leigh discussed her huge success as a featured artist on tracks like Duke Dumont’s Grammy-nominated ‘I Got U’ and SecondCity’s smash hit ‘I Wanna Feel’, and her plans to finally step into the spotlight as a solo artist. MistaJam, in fits of hysterics after Kelli-Leigh’s Toni Braxton impression, passionately declared that it was time Kelli-Leigh got the respect she deserved as a singer. He said he was honoured to play ‘Ain’t Got Nobody’, for the first time, and that it totally delivered on the bold claims of Kelli-Leigh’s ambitious PR statement.
‘Ain’t Got Nobody’ itself is a fantastic collaboration between Kelli-Leigh and producer Bisou. It displays Kelli-Leigh’s phenomenal vocal ability, and is a quality Dance track in its own right. The song is an upbeat downer, mourning the loss of a lover with simple yet effective lyrics. Its beat is so strong and its subject so sad that, in the words of MistaJam himself, it will have clubbers shedding tears on the dance floor.
