Born to a Zambian father and an Irish mother, she was discovered by Louis Walsh while performing on Irish talent show ‘Let Me Entertain You’, following years of training at stage school. She signed to Polydor Records, and released debut single ‘Gotta Tell You’ in 2000. The slick pop track was a huge hit, reaching #1 in Ireland, #2 in the UK and #4 in the USA. Five more UK Top 10 hits would follow.
Her debut album of the same name was likewise a massive success, selling over 4 million copies worldwide, achieving Platinum sales status in the US and staying on the album chart there for six months.Meanwhile her acting career was taking off, with a starring role in Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Time Machine’ and ‘Spin The Bottle’ amongst others. She received a Grammy nomination in 2001 and two MOBO nominations in 2000 and 2001.
After taking some time away from music in the following years, she appeared as a contestant on ITV’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ in 2008. She has also been a model over the years, fronting campaigns and being an ambassador for the likes of Dior and Reebok.
Returning to music with a Top 5 hit in Ireland in 2013 with ‘Somebody Like Me’, she is once again recording and working on new material as well as performing live.
