UK arts organisations to receive over £250 million in cultural recovery fund | Live | News | MN2S

1,385 arts organisations throughout the UK have received £257 million this October.

This money will put many organisations at ease for the next six month of their survival. Received from part of the £1.57 billion governmental culture recovery fund, the money will help numerous people stay afloat. The culture recovery fund is going to aid many organisations such as theatres, music venues, museums, orchestras, and a handful of other art and entertainment organisations throughout the UK. The money will be distributed by Arts Council England, a non-departmental public body of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Arts Council England is said to have also announced an additional amount of funding later to come, increasing the funds to over £330 million.

This is more vital funding to protect cultural gems across the country, save jobs and prepare the arts to bounce back. Through Arts Council England we are delivering the biggest ever investment in the arts in record time.

Oliver Dowden, Culture Secretary

With these funds in place, nightclubs and venues are able to stay afloat throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. For the next six months, the music scene will be able to thrive in the public scene, giving way to socially-distant concerts and music more. While under isolation, the physical music scene, much like many other events in the UK and around the world, began to die off. People were ordered to stay indoors and businesses were forced to shut down. However, with funds such as these in place, entertainment consumers will no longer be downhearted about being unable to hear their favourite bands live.

Culture is an essential part of life across the country, helping to support people’s wellbeing through creativity and self-expression, bringing communities together, and fuelling our world class creative industries.
