Amsterdam Introduces Sund Restrictions for 2018 | News | MN2S

Amsterdam will introduce new sound restrictions on outdoor and warehouse events, starting in 2018.

To implement these new measures, sound levels will be checked at local residents’ front doors, as well as at outdoor and warehouse venues.

According to Resident Advisor’s in depth report, promoters are said to be happy with these results, as the city’s original plans called for 25% fewer festivals in the area. Amsterdam’s Night Mayor Mirik Milan said the new rules are intended to reduce lawsuits against festivals, which Milan says happen “almost every time a major festival takes place.”

Last year, Mixmag named Amsterdam Europe’s new club capital. There’s no indication these new regulations will change that. In our interview with A Guy Called Gerald, ahead of his set at MN2S’s 2017 ADE party, the DJ suggested too much emphasis is being put on volume at clubs, when more should go into the subtleties of sound systems.

With the sound restrictions coming into place next year, 2017’s Amsterdam Dance Event might be your last chance to hear the city turned up to 11.
